Got Cheatgrass? Act Now!
Cheatgrass control can be obtained but may be a labor intensive project! Integrated management is necessary for success in dealing with this invader. A winter annual, it usually germinates late summer or early fall. Small areas may be mechanically removed via pulling, hoeing, and keeping the seed bank down by repeated mowings can help. Proper grazing practices can keep this invader from taking over areas, or once established grazing can be used as a tool. Herbicides can be used but timing is critical. Here are a few links to some treatment options should you find yourself surrounded by cheatgrass.
